James Dewberry was born and raised in Savannah Georgia. He is single, 37 years old, and a graduate of Brewton Parker College. Mr. Dewberry has worked for Savannah Digital Communications, Inc., an international communications firm, for the past 13 years as a project manager. Mr. Dewberry was a founding partner in Savannah based Planet Zoo Communications, Inc., Joy Advertising Worldwide, Inc. and The Savannah Channel. Mr. Dewberry works each day with major computer and technology companies across the US, Europe and Asia in providing corporate and consumer communications in the form of technical writings and marketing communications. Mr. Dewberry has been involved in international commerce since 1995.

As a teenager, Mr. Dewberry worked at many area veterinary clinics. He first served as a veterinary technician to the Savannah Veterinary Emergency Clinic at the age of 12. He adopted many injured and orphaned wild animals that included squirrels, raccoons, and a variety of bird species. Mr. Dewberry worked as a veterinary technician for six Savannah Veterinarians and has been an animal advocate since childhood.

James Dewberry first learned to weld at the Old Savannah High School. During breaks in college, Mr. Dewberry worked as an electrician's helper and has pulled miles and miles of wires through the many pipes he bent and strapped in industrial settings. Mr. Dewberry stands so tall that he has hit his head on the ceilings of many big box grocers and hardware stores while wiring jobs in Savannah and Hilton Head. Mr. Dewberry has wired as many electrical boxes correctly as he has wired boxes incorrectly. Mr. Dewberry has rigged and wired many lighting arrangements for art galleries all over downtown Savannah. Mr. Dewberry is not an electrician.

For his graduate school internship, Mr. Dewberry chose to serve as an intern nursing home administrator, shadowing the administrator and learning about each department of the specialty care operation. It was here that James Dewberry recognized the enormous challenges we have before us in caring for our aging populous. Mr. Dewberry has a great appreciation for the dedicated nurses, nursing aids and orderlies who care for, comfort, and serve as companions to our aging seniors. Mr. Dewberry has personally cared for seniors who have suffered severe stroke and Alzheimer's disease and has a real sense of the increasing demands our society will be facing in the years to come. We must prepare for the future and properly care for our seniors who depend on us.

Mr. Dewberry enjoyed many years of his young adult life as a professional musician and even today can be found in the recording studio working with groups and individuals in furthering their musical ambitions. Mr. Dewberry is a recording artist, composer, and professional audio/video engineer. Mr. Dewberry has served as a musician and solo vocalist to many area churches. James Dewberry has been the principal recording engineer for many area musical and performing arts events in audio and video formats. You can find Mr. Dewberry sitting in with area bands as a guest drummer and more often singing and performing in karaoke clubs where ever they can be found.

During his off hours, Mr. Dewberry is a private pilot with tailwheel endorsement and enjoys traveling and restoring vintage aircraft and automobiles. Mr. Dewberry is currently studying to receive his Airframe & Powerplant Certificate and Instrument and Commercial pilot ratings from the FAA. Mr. Dewberry enjoys spending time with his friends and family.

10 Key Positions and Priorities

  1. No new taxes.


  2. No tax dollars to provide curbside recycling


  3. Amend revenue ordinance to require e-verify to discourage the hiring of illegal aliens. Provide for violations to include revoking business license.


  4. Build new jail at 1/2 the cost allocated to the program.


  5. Fix the public transit system. Provide enough funding to ensure the success of CAT in meeting the community's needs.

  10. Engage our Health Department and the Georgia Department of Human Resources to broaden the scope of our nursing home and long term care facility inspections and or monitoring.
